While psychedelic drugs like magic mushrooms have been used for centuries and gained prominence in the West in the 1960s counterculture, more recently they have been used in research studies around the world to help with mental health treatments for conditions like depression. Next week Radix Motion and Red Light Holland Corp will launch Wisdom, a virtual reality (VR) educational application showcasing the effects of psychedelics on the brain.

As an educational experience, Wisdom provides models of the 5ht2a neural receptor – the one affected by psychedelics – allowing you to take a psilocybin molecule and place it in the receptor to see what happens. It’s about using the immersive power of virtual reality to demonstrate some of the phenomenological sensations that people experience as synesthesia.

Wisdom is narrated by Canadian stand-up comedian Russell Peters, offering facts along the way as players are encouraged to interact with their surroundings, play music on a xylophone, or even just dance.

“As psychedelics become more accessible, it is vitally important that people have access to the science of how these powerful substances influence our brains and as there is plenty of research to prove that the best way to learn is to have fun and to play, which was our goal in Wisdom. . It has been an amazing experience to test Wisdom and see the “Wow” on the faces of the players, even if they are veteran VR players, ”said Sarah. Hashkes, a published psychedelic researcher and CEO of Radix Motion in a statement.

Wisdom

Wisdom is another element of Red Light Holland’s Digital Care program which combines cutting-edge technology and human innovation to promote education, information and responsible use of our iMicrodose packs, ”said Todd Shapiro, CEO of Red Light Holland. The VR experience was originally designed for Smartshop customers in the Netherlands, but with this acceptance on Steam I’m excited to share it with the world.

Wisdom will launch via Steam for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Valve Index on March 17. For more updates on the latest VR educational experiences, keep reading VRFocus.
