Speculation swirled about the former captain’s position as BCCI chairman following his cryptic June 1 tweet, in which he thanked his fans and said he planned to start something that would “help probably a lot of people.” This sparked speculation that he was to step down as BCCI chairman, prompting board secretary Jay Shah to clarify that he had not resigned.
“2022 marks the 30th year since my journey with cricket started in 1992. Since then, cricket has given me a lot. More importantly, it has given me the support of all of you. I want to thank everyone who was part of the journey, supported me and helped me to reach where I am today. Today I plan to start something that I think will probably help a lot of people.
