Google Play Store records over 28 billion downloads of games and educational apps in Q3

With an increase in app downloads, Google Play Store reached 28.3 billion total downloads for the Q3 period. This is a 31% increase over last year. On the other hand, competitor of Google Play Store, Apple’s App Store could only manage 8.2 billion downloads in total.

If we are talking about the whole year, instead of a quarter, then Google Play Store recorded 80.6 billion app downloads, while Apple’s App Store recorded 26.6 billion combined downloads. since the beginning of the year.

Now, the types of downloaded apps vary among gaming apps, educational apps, and business-related apps. According to the same report, it suggests that the most downloaded app category on the Google Play Store belongs to the games sector with 13.49%, followed by the education sector with 9.11% and companies with 6, 95% of all downloads.

Overall, Google Play Store has a huge app portfolio with over 2.7 million apps in total, ahead of Apple’s App Store which has 1.82 million apps.
